Dave Overton organises a friendly ride every Thursday morning, choosing quiet lanes and off-road tracks where possible and always incorporating a break for coffee and cake! Rides start at 10:00 am (10:30 in winter) from just outside the reception entrance of the National Sports Centre, Bisham Abbey.

Intermediate and experienced cyclists are welcome and the route is tailored to the group – plus the morning’s weather – and will be appropriate for hybrid, mountain and gravel bikes – including electric. Narrow, slick-tyred road bikes may have difficulty with some of the off-road sections. Helmets are required and front and rear lights recommended. The distance covered is generally 20-30 miles, and with the coffee stop the ride duration can range from 2 to 4 hours.

Marlow Social Bike Ride began in September 2018 as part of the Active Bucks initiative. Occasionally the ride starts from Wallingford for a change of routes and scenery. To join the group, head to Bisham Bikers, and click ‘Join Group Request’. You’ll then need to create a (free) account with British Cycling and read the Ts&Cs. Once done, Dave will email you details of the next ride so you can book on.

If you can’t wait, or you want to explore other local options, then click on the ‘Rides / Community Groups’ section on the top banner of the website and search for Marlow.
